Private Pilot Training

Whether you want to become a professional pilot or fly for fun, it all starts here! Private pilots are able to fly single-engine aircraft in good weather conditions. The FAA’s outlined criteria to obtain your Private certificate are:

  • Age: 17 Years (16 to Fly Solo)

  • Total Flight Time: 40 Hours

  • Instruction Flight Time: 20 Hours

  • Solo Flight Time: 10 Hours

  • Third-Class FAA Medical Certificate

These are only minimums. In reality, most pilots take closer to 50 hours to obtain their license.

This is the next step. An Instrument Rating is an add-on to your Private Pilot’s certificate and allows you to fly in low visibility conditions. Minimum requirements to obtain your Instrument Rating are:

  • Prerequisite: Private or Commercial License

  • Age: 17 Years

  • Total Flight Time: 50 Hours PIC

  • Simulated or Actual Instrument Flight Time: 40 Hours

  • Instrument Instruction Flight Time: 15 Hours
